1. Types of Safari Permits in Manas

2. Where to Get the Safari Permits?

Permits are issued by the Forest Department of Assam. You can make a Manas safari booking from manassafari.in. Just fill in the details like your name, age, gender, and government-issued ID card information, and you will get a permit for Manas National Park.

3. When to Book Your Permit?

Manas National Park is a wild spot, and many tourists come to this park for thrilling safari rides. To protect the animals and keep the forest peaceful, the forest department allows only a limited number of safaris to enter the park each day. Because of this, safari bookings can be made months in advance, and the slots get filled very quickly.

It is advised for tourists to make their safari bookings at least 45 to 60 days before their travel dates. This will ensure that they will get to choose the zone, type of safari and preferred timing slot according to their preference. And, don’t face the disappointment of missing out at the last minute.

4. Documents You Need

5. Group Size Rules

• Each gypsy safari in Manas is allowed to take 6 people inside the forest, excluding the guide and the driver. On the gypsy safari, 2 children can go below 4 years of age. If your child is more than 4, then they will be counted as an adult, and you have to get a permit for them.
• An elephant safari usually allows 2 adults or 2 adults + 1 child per elephant. It depends on the weight limit and the rules of the forest.
• If you’re in a larger group, you’ll need to book more than one gypsy or elephant, and permits should be filled out separately.

6. Other Important Permit Tips

• No Safari Without Permit: cannot enter the park for safari without an approved permit.
• Guide is Important: Whenever you go for a safari, a guide should be there with you. They are important for safety, and without them, entries are not allowed.
• No Refunds on Last-Minute Cancellations: When a permit is issued, it cannot be cancelled or transferred to someone else. Once a permit is issued in your name, then no refunds are given, nor can you give it to someone else. If you come late for the ride, then the safari will be cancelled, but the permit cost is non-refundable.
• In monsoon or rainy days, the forest department may cancel safaris for safety. You can ask for a reschedule or a refund in such cases. But, they are not promised, the decision will be taken by the forest department, and you have to agree to them.
